Visualisation of glaciation boundaries and positions of moraine structures on the 1 : 50 000 geological map of Lower Saxony.
The visualisation of the glaciation boundaries shows the maximum distribution of Ice Age glaciers in Lower Saxony. The range of the upper Harz mountains glaciation is shown for the Weichsel glacial. In other regions of Lower Saxony the general glaciation boundary gives an indication of the maximum range of the Pleistocene inland ice. The distribution and location of characteristic and prominent terminal and intermediate stages of important Saalian inland ice advances are shown by the terminal and push moraines of the Saale region.
These data represent linear formations; they are held in electronic format and provided in combination with the geological data of the GK50 base map, as required.
For example, the dynamics and distribution of glacial advances in Lower Saxony only become truly tangible in conjunction with the geological background information.
